35 conservation areas across the city

Manchester City Council lists 35 conservation areas. Some are city-centre streets like Ancoats, Castlefield and Smithfield, but plenty are residential: Victoria Park, Whalley Range, Didsbury St James, Chorlton Green, Chorltonville, Withington, Northenden, Albert Park and Crumpsall Green among them.

Changing how a roof looks there

The council's guidance says development in any of Manchester's conservation areas may need planning permission, conservation area consent or both, and a listed building can need listed building consent as well.

A like-for-like repair is a different thing from changing the covering or adding a dormer. If your house is in one of those areas and the work would change the look of the roof, speak to the council's planning team before it starts. We're happy to talk it through with you when we quote.

Two phone numbers, one team

Our landline is a Manchester 0161 number, 0161 327 4824, and the mobile, 07462 215888, takes calls and WhatsApp messages. Either reaches the same team of 20, with 25 years' experience between them.

Warrington too

Warrington, about 16 miles west of the city centre in a straight line, is the other area we cover, along with everywhere around it. Its page lists that borough's conservation areas.
